The installation of fire doors is a critical aspect of building safety. Fire resisting doors are one of the most important measures to safeguard the means of escape from fire. Correct installation, inspection and maintenance is essential to ensure the ongoing performance of fire doors and, ultimately the safety of those who will use the building.
Doorsets (and door assemblies) are not freestanding products, and they will not provide for any design performance until they have been competently installed into a suitable structure, and all components used must be compatible and be in accordance with field of application reports and data sheets for the door.
Installation is as vital to saving lives, as the specification of the doorset itself. If the doorset is poorly installed or difficult to operate, it will not provide the required performance, and could lead to users of a building disabling elements of the doorset, such as removing door closers or wedging the doors in an open position, which could result in devasting consequences.
An incorrectly installed doorset could impact property insurance, invalidate the certification provided with the doorset and could become a legal issue for the Responsible Person.

I’ve taken a lot from this course, and now realise that there is a lot more to fire doors than I ever knew. The course has been a significant professional development for me. It has enhanced my competence and equipped me with the ability to provide informed advice on fire doors in my role in the fire service.
I am truly grateful for the personal attention you've given me throughout the course and for the wealth of resources and website links you've shared. They will undoubtedly be invaluable in my future work.
Many thanks for the certificates and for an excellent service Ann-Marie. The apprentices and I really enjoyed the two days and took a lot from the BWF Fire Door Installation training course. Please pass on my thanks to Andy for what was really an enjoyable and informative two days.
Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
As a Building Officer of the Estates Department, I recently completed the NVQ Level 2 Unit in the installation of timber fire doors with Fire Door Training and would highly recommend this training to everyone who is installing timber fire doors. The real-life knowledge of the course was interesting as I learnt a lot of information and new skills, and the course work was a smooth process. The support given by Andrew during the assessment process was exceptional and because of this the Trust has now enrolled all Estate Department joiners onto this qualification.
